Panasonic’s AI team was seeking ways to integrate and automate fragmented and siloed data workflows supporting its AI and computer vision initiatives. Manual dataset preparation and validation created inefficiencies, often taking weeks and slowing down development cycles.
For Roots Innovation, the opportunity was to validate Synstream in a real enterprise environment and demonstrate its ability to support complex AI workflows at scale.
IPI Singapore onboarded Synstream onto its innovation marketplace and supported Roots Innovation’s participation at TechInnovation 2025, where Panasonic’s AI team discovered the solution. Following the initial engagement, IPI supported Roots Innovation in identifying high-potential opportunities and recommended Panasonic as a strategic partner. With insights into Panasonic’s AI operations and co-creation programme, both parties progressed into detailed technical discussions.
In early 2026, Panasonic and Roots Innovation conducted a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) project to validate Synstream's dataset management and quality-assurance capabilities for computer vision applications. The platform enabled automated dataset handling, bi-directional conversion for cross-platform compatibility, and structured validation through visual inspection and analytic tools. This streamlined Panasonic's data preparation workflow, improved dataset quality prior to model training, and significantly reduced manual preparation time. The PoC also achieved high accuracy in automated dataset validation and enabled 2–3 times faster model training readiness for Panasonic’s AI team.
Following the successful PoC, Roots Innovation and Panasonic formalised their collaboration through an MOU announced at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, expanding the partnership into smart city, mobility, and enterprise applications. At the event, both parties also unveiled “Synstream VisionEdge”, a hybrid edge AI platform that transforms physical events into real-time digital intelligence. Designed for faster, lower-cost deployment, the solution enables enterprises to run advanced AI automation on existing infrastructure while maintaining high data security through localised on-premises processing.
For Roots Innovation, the collaboration provided strong enterprise validation of Synstream, enabling the company to further refine its solution while demonstrating its ability to support high-volume, enterprise-grade AI workflows. This has strengthened its credibility and opened new opportunities in smart city and AI-driven applications, while supporting its commercialisation strategy and readiness for regional expansion.
Together, the engagement demonstrates how IPI Singapore enables local startups to validate their technologies with global corporates, strengthen product capabilities, and accelerate real-world deployment and growth.
