<p class="text-align-justify">Dr Ong Mei Horng is currently a Food Specialist (SMF) and Innovation Advisor (IPI) for food enterprises (MNC, SME/LLE and Start-ups) and research agencies. She helps F&B companies to innovate and transform their business via the development of new products & strategies, food services and technologies. She is a certified assessor for the international standard for Industry 4.0 i.e. Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) and would like to support food companies towards the adoption of the Industry 4.0 advanced manufacturing. In addition, Dr Ong is also a part–time lecturer in Food Science & Technology Dept, NUS, and an expert advisor for the USA Soy Export Council (USSEC) – Asia Soy Excellent Centre – Food Protein in Singapore. </p><p class="text-align-justify">Dr Ong was the Director of the FMCG Cluster at Advanced Remanufacturing Technology Centre (ARTC- A*STAR) where she led the cluster in the development and implementation of A*STAR's R&D strategies and building a new FMCG membership consortium ecosystem to facilitate public-private partnerships for the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies.</p><p class="text-align-justify">She was the former Chief Scientific Officer, Head of R&D and Technical Services of Fraser & Neave (F&N) Group, during which she focused on R&D and manufacturing strategies and implementation. She has extensive industry experience and deep expertise gained from over 28 years working in food and beverage companies such as Nestlé, Mars, Cadbury, F&N and Vitasoy in Europe, Oceania and Asia.</p><p class="text-align-justify">Dr Ong is a council member of the Singapore Institute of Food Science and Technology (SIFST) and co-chair for the International Union of Food Science and Technology World Congress to be held in Singapore in October 2022. She is also a member of the Technical Working Group for Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) -Standard Development Organization (SDO). </p><p class="text-align-justify">Dr Ong graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Food Science and Management from King’s College, University of London and obtained her Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nottingham in England. <p>Tian Seng has close to 35 years of experience in Nestle holding different functions from R&D to commercialisation, manufacturing and business operations; and with several international assignments and expatriations. <p>Hong Wai is a global executive with over 35 years of working experience in 6 countries: China, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States. He is presently a board member of China Yuchai International Limited (NYSE: CYD), an Innovation Advisor with IPI Singapore (a subsidiary of Enterprise Singapore), and an Associate Faculty member at the Singapore Institute of Technology.</p><p>He was with General Motors (GM) for 29 years and has extensive experience in areas such as M&A, new business development, strategic alliance management, sales/marketing, strategic risk management, business strategy, portfolio planning, global procurement and business process re-engineering.</p><p>In the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Wai drove many of GM’s strategy development efforts that resulted in major investments in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea and Thailand. Apart from expanding GM’s core passenger vehicle businesses in the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Wai led growth initiatives in areas such as electrification, go-to-market business models incorporating the rapidly developing digital ecosystem, telematics, independent aftermarket parts and commercial vehicles to expand the scope and capabilities of GM’s existing business. He also piloted a personal urban mobility solution with Shanghai Jiaotong University using GM’s electric-networked vehicle that was first showcased at the 2010 World Expo. In 2021, Hong Wai was appointed Expert Committee Member by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC).</p><p>Hong Wai has extensive experience in M&A in China, including the formation and dissolution of joint ventures, and raising GM’s equity stakes in key joint ventures. In Japan, he worked on strategic partnership management activities involving Isuzu Motors, Suzuki Motor and Subaru Corporation (Fuji Heavy Industries). He also had global procurement responsibilities for GM and the Japanese alliance partners. During his stint in Europe and the U.S., he was responsible for the coordinated development and integration of GM’s business plans across the Asia-Pacific, European and Latin American regions, as well as business process re-engineering efforts to optimize efficiency. He was also an integral member of a global team that successfully led GM’s acquisition of Daewoo Motors.</p><p>Besides operational roles, Hong Wai had governance responsibilities as Board Member of GM (China) Investment Co. <p>Dr Rebecca Lian is a veteran and expert in the food industries and presently holds the position as Chief Technology Officer of Green Planet Foods, a start-up that aims to deliver affordable, healthy food and beverages that cater to the Chinese market. She is an Innovation Advisor with IPI and is also a Guest Lecturer, School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (Food Science and Technology (FST) programme) at Nanyang Technological University.</p><p>Rebecca spent close to 34 years with Nestle holding various leadership positions. She last helmed the China Nestle R&D leadership and set up four competent R&D centres in Beijing, Shanghai, Dongguan and Xiamen. Rebecca was part of the pioneer Nestle team to bring factories and manufacturing operations into China for the Group. During her 24 years in China, Rebecca was responsible for launches of new products across multiple food product categories such as frozen foods, ambient culinary, coffee and beverages, dairy, nutrition for seniors, confectionery and snacks, products for food service and quick service restaurant (QSR) for the Chinese market and also Asia Pacific.</p><p>On returning to Singapore after the China assignment, Rebecca was appointed Distinguished Fellow at Wilmar International, one of Singapore’s largest food and agri-food companies. She was also the Co-Lab Director for the Food Lab, a collaboration between Wilmar, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Clinical Nutrition Research Centre (CNRC), and spearheaded the development of personalised food products for clinical trials addressing metabolic disorder syndrome in addition to leading the product innovation for markets in Southeast Asia, South Asia and Africa. </p><p class="text-align-justify">Rebecca received her Bachelor’s degree (First Class Honours) and PhD in Food Technology from Reading University, United Kingdom. She had held leadership positions in some of the world’s largest multi-national food companies like Nestle, Unilever, Danone and Fonterra and brings extensive experience in brand and marketing, insight, innovation and category development.</span></p><p class="text-align-justify"><span>She is passionate about creating value, from emerging category to re-invented category, possessing broad expertise in building differentiated brands and added-value propositions in diverse food categories.
